Child's Story
Emeldah Sekakwanda aged 12, was born on the 3rd of July, 2010 and lives in Wasala community with her father as a primary caregiver. Livelihood for the girl child hasn’t been easy. One would think her paternal care would meet the girl’s needs but that has been the twist of events in her case.

The father runs a micro business from which the family realizes income to carter for all family needs. Living in a makeshift house which calls for rental payments and other family needs such as clothing, food and many more is one contributing factor of the child not accessing common basic needs such as education. Emeldah as a coherent child to the family normally does all the daily house chores. Her father always strives to support the family, but the economic conditions are so overwhelming to the degree of his inability to provide for them the holistic needs.

Despite the vulnerability of the child, Emeldah’s future aspirations are tagged to becoming a doctor as serving people is her heart’s desire. She enjoys dancing as a hobby and playing netball is a favorite sporting activity. When pressed by bad conditions, she seeks assistance from God to help her family through prayer.

It’s therefore, a clear indicator that our support to the girl child’s life will be of great transformation. Our extension of kindness builds hope and a realistic focus on the bright future before her, with the hope of actualizing her ambition of becoming a doctor.
