Child's Story
Gift Nyirongo is the first born in the family of two and he is aged 8 years old, he was born on January 4th 2014, he lives in Wasala community with his mother, step father and step brother. His mother and step father are the ones caring for him and his little step brother.
The story of Gift remains to be a heart touching story, the child was abandoned by the biological father after he was born. Gift’s father abandoned the mother and him because he never wanted a baby boy, he left them when Gift was 10 months old, then the mother remarried. The child has once been to school but he was thrown out of school because the mother and step father were unable to pay for his school fees. Gift's passion and dream is to become a teacher regardless of the caregivers being financially handicapped to support him in school.
Gift normally helps the mother with reasonable house chores (gathering firewood, carrying water pots and cleaning dishes) and seldomly helps the mother to sell ground nuts by the road side to help the family. Gift and his family live in a make shift building made out of clay of which has no electricity and with no proper ventilation. Gift is passionate about attending church, his very kind to his family and friends, he remains coherent to advice and guidance from elderly people and his favorite hobby is playing soccer.
In all these negative things that surround gift's life, he remains to be a sweet, intelligent and precious child in the sight of God and that of the team at Covenant Heart International Missions.
